Blogging

Blogging is the most consistent thing I’ve done in life and I’m proud of it. Despite the very slow growth of the readership, I have been writing for almost 7 years today. And I still don’t plan to quit -at least for the next 5 years. Although my posting is very unplanned, well sometimes I can write up to 5 writings per day but other times I don’t even write for a month, but I can personally see the development in my writing style which includes the vocabulary enrichment, grammatical improvements, and maturation of the topics I raise.

This journey began from my desire to be able to write a book. But at that time I had never written for public, even any genre in mind yet. Until a colleague said, why don’t you start blogging, so you get used to writing first. That hit me hard. Then on September 5, 2016, my first post entitled Hati Purnama was published with a free wordpress account.

From then on, I occasionally wrote on this blog to devote what I had in mind, or as simple as how I felt at the moment. But then my writing feels too personal, so I almost never publish the existence of this site until this website becomes like a diary for the next few years.

Then at the end of 2020, a book writer who started his writing career from blogging said that if you want to be serious about writing, then you could start from subscribing to the premium plan of your website provider. Because it’s not that expensive compared to the cost of the credit you’ve spent in a year while you can get a benefit to the community. And again, this just makes sense to me. So I upgraded my plan. But I can’t stay the same. I want this page to grow faster, which means I need a concept for this website to attract readers.

After exploring the websites of famous people overnight, I finally found content that matched my interests and habits. Then I made a plan: I will write a review of a book or movie, as well as some interesting quotes. I also trained myself to start writing it in English. However, my page is still too monotonous because it contains text only. I thought, adding the images will help to convey my feeling to the reader. So I started collecting the pictures in my phone gallery while I slowly collected other images.

As time went on, I need a medium to documented my works. Therefore, once again, I transformed this website to meet that need: I added a portfolio page to document my work. And this morning, I think it would also be interesting to create a content segment to share my life experiences. So that one day, when I start to feel small and want to give up, I can read this story again and remember that I was once so stubborn in writing on this blog.
